Project #6

For this project, I was supposed to work with the first fruit or vegetable I found in the kitchen. I reaching into the fridge and pulled out a yellow bell pepper. I had recently seen this project on Pinterest and wanted to replicate it.

Unfortunately, my bell pepper was a little smaller than the ones shown in the picture, so you couldn't see the pretty yolk:

Looks a little pathetic, but it tasted delish! I was dissapointed with this project, so I actually repeated it the next night with another fruit that I first laid eyes on---- a soon-to-be-bygone banana sitting in the fruit basket on the counter.

I sliced it down the center, added splenda, coconut oil, and cinnamon, and kind of mashed it together with a knife. 

Then it got wrapped in aluminum foil and baked it in the toaster oven for about twenty minutes. I would suggest double-wrapping it, seeing as mine leaked a little out of the ends. After it came out, it looked disgusting, but smelled heavenly. 

I mashed it up, and topped it with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. Super yummy!

Project 6

 
Look in the kitchen and work with the first fruit or vegetable you spot. It could be in the form of juice, jam or canned.

 I cut the bananas in half, inserted a Popsicle stick, dipped in chocolate, and finally sprinkled on candy decorations.  Off to the freezer!

Project #5

For today's crafty challenge, I had to work with a collection of objects. My first instinct was to cop out and dive into my yarn stash (every good knitter has a collection!), but then decided to make it a bit more challenging. The only other collection that I was aware of was Taylor's car collection. He collects model cars and Matchbox/HotWheels cars. I couldn't just dive into his collection, so instead I picked up an extra 88-cent toy car at Walmart.

I took the wheels off with some wire cutters and pliers, and attached them to earring posts.

 Now the question is: What do I do with a tire-less HotWheels Ferrari?

Work with a collection of objects you have in your home.

Tim has been saving coins forever from all of our trips.  I took my dremil to some and attached them with rings to a chain bracelet I picked up at Joanns.  The dremil drilled through some of the lighter metals but I ended up having to take out the drill for some of the harder coins.

 I like the way it turned out and can't wait to add more coins.

   Project 4

For this project you were supposed to walk for five minutes and find something natural and make something.  I walked for 45 minutes and came across this rock. I thought it  looked like a turtle shell.  I already started painting it, the right photo, when I remembered to take a picture.

I made the body out of polymer clay

I gave the "shell" about four layers of paint and airbrushed brown on the top when I was finished.  This is after the second coat

My finished project.  Don't you love that I worked so hard on the realistic shell than stuck googly eyes on him.  I am supposed to put him back and let someone else find him,but he is so cute I don't know if that is happening!

Project #4

"Take a five-minute walk, then make something using whatever materials are available where you've ended up."

For this craft, I found some tall grass growing nearby and decided to weave it. I wasn't quite sure where I was going with this--- my initial thought was to laminate it and use it as a book mark.

Once I finished weaving it, I played around with it a little bit, and realized that it was the perfect size to fit around my wrist. I impulsively went to Hobby Lobby to find a wooden bangle to attach it to. Unfortunately they didn't carry any, and I spent about an hour looking for alternatives. I considered foam, felt, and metal, but nothing was quite what I pictured. I finally settled on a leather cuff with a snap closure that I found. I sewed my woven grass onto the cuff, and added a couple of layers of Modge Podge to seal it (you can see it after the first coat below). I still need to snip some stray threads and smooth out the edges. 

I have no idea how long this will last before it gets completely destroyed due to normal wear and tear, but oh well---- worth a shot. 

Project #3

  Make something out of paper, but don't use scissors or glue or draw on it. I used scrapbook paper and cut by folding crisp lines and ripping.  Nothing used here but paper and fingers!
